The focus area covered in this pocket size book is the tropical savanna region of Northern Australia stretching from Broome in the west to Townsville in the east.  It is an invaluable tool for land managers, featuring descriptions, maps, drawings and photographs of 150 plant species that are common and includes high priority weeds threatening northern Australia’s unique environments.  Full page descriptions are given for the main species and shorter descriptions for others.  The book covers trees, shrubs and herbs, vines, grasses and aquatics.

The book also includes a section on quarantine threats – that is weeds which aren’t yet present in northern Australia but which would thrive if introduced.  Hopefully it will assist us to stem the spread of weeds, which are one of the biggest environmental problems in northern Australia.
