Palawa tunapri: Knowledge of our Ancestors

Trish Hodge has spent 20 years researching and documenting the traditional uses of over 350 native Tasmanian plants – for food, medicine, tools and seasonal knowledge. Interwoven with historical observations and the status of vulnerable species, this book is a tribute to Aboriginal ecological wisdom and the enduring connection to Country.

This book is much more than a field guide.  For thousands of generations the Palawa people cared for Lutruwita (known today as Tasmania).  It introduces many of the plants that grow in Lutruwita and they knowledge they hold – some are medicinial, some are food, some are used to make cultural items and there are others that tell us about the seasons.
