This book describes all the naturally occurring eucalypts in the goldfields region of Western Australia, a vast area of 640,000 square kilometres between Western Australia’s wheatbelt and Murchison regions and the South Australian border. The goldfields region includes the world-renowned Great Western Woodlands and the Western Australian section of the Great Victoria Desert.
Within the goldfields region, 173 different eucalypt species and subspecies have been recorded, which represents about 17% of all known eucalypts. This includes 46 eucalypts that are endemic to the region, that is, they occur naturally nowhere else.
Of these 173 eucalypts, 158 are each described in detail over a double-page, featuring:
The remaining 15 eucalypts extend marginally into the goldfields region and are only briefly described.
Designed and written for those with no botanical training, but also catering for the professional, this book will be most valuable for all those interested in appreciating, identifying and getting to know the unique eucalypts of Western Australia’s goldfields region.
