This revised edition of Reptiles & Frogs of Southeast Queensland encompasses the area normally associated with the southeast regional councils but extends much further into the semi-arid Balonne Shire in the southwest and up to the Rockhampton district in the northeast.
The book features 283 species and sub-species of native and introduced frogs, freshwater turtles, geckos, legless lizards, skinks, dragon, and monitor lizards as well as snakes and marine reptiles. This revised edition includes an additional five species – three frogs (two presumed to be extinct) and two snakes since the original edition in late 2025. More than 700 half to full page photographs of as many different colour variations as possible of each animal are depicted including eleven new pages and several new photographs on existing pages. Species lists, and an index of all common and scientific names guide the reader to the animal of their choice or alternatively simple linear keys are available to aid identification. Photographs are preceded by text offering information on identification, behaviour, habitat and known range, breeding calls and timing for the frogs and conservation status.
About the Author: Mike Donovan developed an interest in reptiles and frogs at a young age which was nurtured by his father and over the last six decades this has become his passion. This is his fourth book (and certainly the most detailed and comprehensive) on the subject. His aim has also been to inform and describe these often maligned and sometimes hated creatures in the hope that others may come to accept and appreciate them as much as he does.
