This guide is intended to allow the user to identify the common plants and animals seen between the high and low tide lines, or intertidal zone, around Tasmania. At first sight, beaches may appear empty because the animals that live there hide from the heat of the sun and the force of the waves. Many just live below the surface of the sand. Tide tables which tell yu when the lowest tides occur are obainable from the Port authorities. This book was first published in 1999 and is now in its fourth edition.
